Hello lovely

How are you today and how is your week going?

It’s been quite a week for me and I have really had to take a step back and slow down with everything I am trying to fit in.This has made me have feelings of guilt and anxiety because I have so much to do.
As I was journaling this morning, I was reminded of something that my coach once old me and of which I gently remind my clients to do. You know when you are on a plane and the airline crew tell you to put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others with theirs, well the same is true of life!!

How can you help anyone else if you are depleted and in need of self-care? The best thing you can do is look at what is missing, what you have neglected (your basic needs) and start nurturing and caring for YOURSELF first lovely.

Even if that means saying no to someone else in order to say yes to yourself. Can you see how this is NOT a selfish thing to do. If you are filled up then you have more to give into the world.

It is super important that your needs are meet in order for you to function properly. Needs are those things without which you feel a bit off, grumpy or ill/unhealthy.

These are different from your wants which are the things that make you happy but without which you are still okay (provided your needs are meet) For example chocolate could be a want but it is never a need.

So think about what your basic needs are and start meeting some of them NOW.

  • Is it getting more sleep – do you know how many hours you sleep now and what your ideal is? Aim to go to bed an hour early each night this week starting tonight and you will feel better for it
  • Is it drinking more water – you should be aiming to drink at least 3-5 litres of water a day not including coffee. This will increase mental focus, physical performance and flush out toxins from your body.
  • Is it nurturing your body with healthy food?
  • Is it exercise or movement?
  • Is it alone time to replenish your soul?

Make a list of all you needs and how much and how often you need to do them and put it where you can see it every day to remind yourself to put your own oxygen mask on first!!

I can help with this and so much more if you need the support.

Love Jackie
