Most of my life I worried about what other people thought of me, especially in my career. One day I stopped apologizing for who I was and I decided to speak up and get really clear about my strengths, skills and talents.
To get over talking way too fast (you know, because I didn’t want the attention on me and I didn’t want to take up other people’s time), I came up with and repeated a MANTRA to myself
#I HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE HERE, I AM VALUABLE AND I HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER TO THIS CONVERSATION
I repeated this to myself over and over again, in the morning, driving, in the toilet, at lunch, just before a meeting or a difficult conversation.
Remember our conversation yesterday – what you focus on you get? Well taking this approach I couldn’t help but feel more confident and powerful.
