I hope you had a fantastic weekend and practiced some self-care over the weekend. I made a conscious effort to take the WHOLE weekend off and did not work at all. It was lovely!!
And it kinda got me thinking that I wanted to share one of my favourite sayings with you. These five words have changed my life literally. Did you know beauty that there is power in words?
How often do we catch ourselves talking badly to ourselves (especially) or even to others.
OUR WORDS HAVE THE POWER TO LIFT US UP OR MAKE US FEEL LIKE CR*P. CHOOSE YOURS WISELY
I don’t know about you but I want to feel good everyday about myself, my life and others so I choose to own the POWER of my WORDS.
Now for my magic words
IT IS WHAT IT IS – very simple yet profound!!
It is what it is means that you have nothing to do in this moment but accept where you are right now. There is nothing for you to change because you can’t.
Now a caveat here, It is what it is works in most instances BUT not when you are trying to let yourself off the hook.
Remember that YOU are in CONTROL of YOUR actions, YOUR words, YOUR thoughts and if you don’t like them then you have the power to change them.
Also remember that you CANNOT control external circumstances and other people and this is where “it is what it is” can and does bring so much peace.
It allows you to accept a situation for what it is
It allows you to accept a person for who they are (even when you really want to change them)
It allows you to find peace in situations that you can do nothing about.
And as a consequence of allowing and accepting, this frees up your mind which otherwise would have been consumed with re-playing things over and over in your head.
So the next time you are worrying about something, stuck in fear or just can’t find a way to move forward, try it on for size – “it is what it is”
