So it’s the third day of 2018 and this is the time when most people usually start taking a long hard look at things they want to change in their lives.
I want to be more fit and healthy.
I want to lose weight
I want to wake up early everyday and go for a run
I want to….. (fill in the blank)
We feel so fired up and raring to go to achieve what we want. The start is always great and you have momentum for the first few months, or maybe you stay stuck in your planning loop and never end up taking action on anything or maybe you decide not to do any planning and see what life throws at you.
I know because I did all three of these things for years. I felt like I could never make any of my goals and plans stick and ended up demotivated and frustrated.
But at the start of 2015 that all changed. I hired a coach and got super focused on my goals and dreams. After all I am a coach and a coach needs a coach too in order to grow and up level.
That is when everything changed for me, I felt clearer than I had ever felt in what I wanted to achieve BUT more importantly HOW to go about achieving it. There was something so comforting in having someone on my side cheering me on, supporting me and keeping me accountable. If I am honest, the accountability was and still is the most important thing to me because I have a tendency to not always keep the promises I make to myself. Can you relate?
How is it that we are fine and even eager to keep promises to other people because we don’t want them to think badly of us BUT we have the hardest time keeping promises to ourselves. Nuts!!
You are the most important person in your world so let’s start treating you that way.
Having outside accountability means we ALWAYS honor our commitments to ourselves and if we aren’t than a coach helps you explore why you aren’t.
Maybe that goal isn’t for you and that’s totally okay so what do you want instead.

Once you have the blueprint, hey presto, it’s easy and you can rinse and repeat.
